"I have seen how caring home care workers are"
My father received home care. I did not have a concern with the worker; she was very good. I have seen how caring the home care workers are. The PSW my dad had took him as he was and treated him gently and with respect. I was disgusted when I found out that she was not getting paid for her travel time. I know that they get .32 a kilometer - that’s ridiculous and should have been updated long ago.
I would hate to think that the CCACs are giving contracts to the lowest bidder and that the workers are living in poverty while providing a desperately needed service to seniors. I worry that if non-union companies win the contracts that the matter of travel time would not be resolved at all.
I will support these workers any way I can.
